Description

This great writer was born in this city on the 25th of November 1845, in the Praça do Almada, in a house now marked with a bronze plate by Teixeira Lopes, alluding to this event. The monument by the sculptor Leopoldo de Almeida was erected in 1952, by a donation from the Poveiros in Brazil.
