Quinta do Forte was property of several owners before it was given by the Town Hall to the Ministério da Agricultura e Pescas (Agricultural Ministery) in order to settle down the Centro de Formação Profissional (Professional School) was dependent from the Direção Regional da Agricultura de Entre-Douro-e-Minho (Entre-Douro-e-Minho Regional Agricultural Office). The oldest owner we have knowledge is Companhia de Jesus that, after 1759, belonged to the Universidade de Coimbra (University of Coimbra) and then became a school – Colégio de Santa Rita (College of Santa Rita). On the second-half of the XIX century, Quinta do Forte was bought by João António da Rocha Pereira, natural from the place of Carreiro, parish of Sopo who was a former emigrant in Brasil and turned this farm into what it is now.
