Between Peso da Régua and Pinhão, turn in Covelinhas to reach the top of São Leonardo and its chapel. From here, a place that is known to have inspired Miguel Torga, you can enjoy a view of the Douro Valley. The river, deep in the valley, running slowly towards the sea, the rugged hillsides and the sharp peaks, and the lushness of the nearer vineyards trying to disguise the predominant grey.
