Maia is a municipality with 82.99 km ² and 135,306 inhabitants (20013), divided into 10 parishes. The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Trofa and Santo Tirso, on the east by Valongo, southeast of Gondomar, the south by the Port, southwest and northwest by Matosinhos by Vila do Conde. In addition to the town of Maia, the city has three villages: Moreira, Castêlo Maia and Águas Santas.
